Join a Conference Call Using Skype
Here at HotAir we take sound quality very seriously and are consequently not great fans of Skype being used to join teleconferences. Whilst it can be great for a point to point call, it’s unpredictable sound quality can impact the whole conference call.
If a caller must use Skype, they should read the instructions shown below.
Entering your security code
- Dial the telephone number to join the teleconference
- Once you hear the welcome greeting, press the round button with the dots that looks like a keypad (shown by the orange arrow below).

- If your Skype window is filling your screen, the button may instead look like the image below. Press the "Dialpad" button
![]()
- This will then display the dialling window as shown below.

- You will now be able to enter your security code.
- If you are the moderator you can also now control the conference.
I can't enter the teleconference security code
If you have followed the instructions above and still can’t successfully enter the code, then you either have an invalid code or the issue is poor sound quality. Our system needs to hear enough of each tone to establish what number you pressed.
Skype sound quality issues
If your sound quality is poor or you have a long delay, try redialling a few times.
Sometimes a Skype call just doesn't sound good. If this is the case,
you should join the meeting using a regular telephone. Ask the person
who invited you to the meeting for the toll free number in your country.
