To join or start a meeting
- Dial a telephone number
- Enter a security code
- Start talking
When new participants join the conference call, a rising tone is heard and when someone leaves, a falling tone is heard.
You can have up to 30 lines in your meeting - let us know if you think you may need more.
Two security codes
There are two security codes:
- The participant code is given to the people attending your meeting
- The moderator code starts the meeting and prevents unauthorised use of your account. Participants will hear music until a moderator joins.
- There can be multiple moderators
Telephone numbers
Telephone numbers and security codes are the same for every meeting.
You can choose between having the participants pay for the telephone call to the meeting or you can cover the cost for them.
I don't want the participants to pay for the telephone call
This is commonly used for:
- Clients
- Staff not in the office
- Keeping costs contained within a cost centre or project
The best numbers to use are the 1800/toll free numbers which we have for callers in Australia, New Zealand and most major business countries. This is the most common way for conference call users to join a meeting because it consolidates costs.
I want participants to pay for their own phone calls to the service
Ask the participants to dial a capital city. This means they will only be paying for a local call.

During a conference
The moderator can:
- Mute all other lines - to reduce background noise
- Record the conference
- Hear the number of participants (or a recording of their names)
- Request assistance
Participants can mute their own lines - to reduce background noise
After the conference
- Download a recording of the meeting

How am I charged?
There are no set up, or ongoing charges. You only pay for what you use. Conference calls are charged per line per second (most providers will charge you more by rounding up to the nearest minute). We show prices per minute to make it easier to see how much cheaper HotAir is.
